Founded in 1865, ITU allocates global radio spectrum and satellite orbits, develops technical standards to ensure that networks and technologies interconnect seamlessly and improves access to information and communication technologies (ICT) to underserved communities around the world. Ossia joins more than 700 leading ICT organizations, including large manufacturers and carriers, smaller emerging technologies innovators, top research and development institutions and academic organizations.  As a leader in the wireless charging space, Ossia joined the ITU's Radiocommunication sector as a Sector Member to help shape global standards. Ossia's groundbreaking Cota technology is redefining wireless to include targeted energy and data transmission that powers devices. The Cota transmitter serves as a hub, providing power to devices like smart home products, smartphones, remote controls, smoke detectors and much more. By working within the ITU to ensure a uniform standard and facilitate interoperability, Ossia is paving the way for partner companies to sell more devices that integrate Cota technology. "The ITU doesn't impose regulations, but it is a powerful force for developing technical standards and ensuring that technologies are compatible across device types," said Hatem Zeine, founder and CTO of Ossia and creator of the Cota technology. Cota's patented smart antenna technology safely delivers targeted energy to devices at a distance, which allows users to keep devices charged without plugging them in or placing them on a charging pad. Cota technology functions similarly to the way Wi-Fi transmitters deliver data to devices, transmitting both energy and data around corners and over obstructions without requiring a direct line of sight.
